Looking toward 2027: the smaller sink with a bigger role
Explore a dedicated prep or beverage zone without losing sight of space and plumbing.
Find your everyday flow.A second sink can support a particular routine: rinsing fruit away from dinner cleanup, preparing drinks, or giving another cook a place to work. The idea is to create a useful destination, not simply add another fixture. For a smaller kitchen, the best answer may still be one well-planned main sink.
Give the zone a clear job
Decide what the second sink will handle before choosing its size. Will you rinse a blender jar, fill a kettle, or wash produce? The AB1218 is a small rectangular fireclay prep/bar sink described for undermount or drop-in use. AB1717UM brings a round granite composite undermount alternative. Compare the usable bowl, not only the overall footprint.
Leave room for the rest of the routine
A beverage station needs dry landing space as well as water. Allow for cups, a machine, and any doors or drawers that need to open. If the sink is inside a secondary prep area, consider how carrying items to the main kitchen will work. A compact bowl can be helpful, but it should not remove the counter space that makes the station useful.
Check the hidden work
Adding a sink involves more than the countertop opening. Confirm water supply, drainage, countertop compatibility, cabinet dimensions, and installation access with a qualified installer. Pick the faucet after reviewing the mounting arrangement and available space; AB2028 is a kitchen faucet to investigate, not a guaranteed pairing for every small sink. Plan from the actual product drawings.
